Today, Uppsala is widely known for its universities, magnificent cathedral, and the legacy of Carl von Linné. During a city walk, you will hear and learn more about Uppsala’s major attractions. Step into the “Professor’s Home,” a bourgeois home from the latter part of the 19th century.

At the city’s prestigious café, Ovfandahls, coffee and sandwiches are served. Here, renowned figures such as Hjalmar Bergman, Karin Boye, Gustaf Fröding, Prince Eugen, and Gunnar Wennerberg have enjoyed their coffee.

During the 1.5-hour city walk, we will hear about exciting events from Uppsala’s 700-year history. We will see famous buildings and learn about interesting and significant individuals who are famous far beyond Sweden’s borders. Our walk is no longer than approximately 400 meters, but we will have time to see and experience places such as the Cathedral, Carolina Rediviva with the Silver Bible, Gustavianum with scientists Rudbeck, Celsius, and Linné, as well as the majestic University Main Building.

We will pause and be welcomed to lunch in historical premises, right at the foot of Uppsala Cathedral.

We continue our stroll through Uppsala’s older neighborhoods, more precisely to the “Professor’s Home” in the cultural quarter of Walmstedtska. Upstairs in the residential building is Professor Herman Rydin’s apartment. The apartment is a reconstruction of the residence that the Rydin family rented in the Walmstedtska courtyard from 1860. The residence consists of six rooms and a kitchen, showcasing a bourgeois home from the latter part of the 19th century, where time seems to have stood still.
